In addition to the regular programme of Workshops and Talks this year we are introducing Making Space – a range of new opportunities to take a moment to make with others, to learn new techniques and share experience. These free drop-in creative sessions are included as part of the Yarndale ticket.
Join Kim Searle of Darn It Workshops to learn mending techniques that highlight and celebrate the repair process, rather than buying new. Kim will cover patching with various embroidery techniques, darning (surface, classic and scotch), boro and sashiko stitches. Bring along your own clothes to repair (woolly garments, denim or t-shirts all welcome!) or work on a variety of samples using the fabrics provided.
Gather round with the North Yorkshire Yarn Trail team with your own knitting or crochet projects, a chance to chat, sit back and enjoy making with others. Advice is on hand from other experienced makers if you need any help or tips on technique. Or just enjoy the opportunity for a social get together.
The Yarndale Pride Picnic Blanket will be out and we invite visitors to meet and carry on making squares to contribute to the rainbow of colours.
The Children’s Corner welcomes families across the weekend to get creative with yarn and explore their imaginations making mandalas.
